So will anyone admit to cheating in an exam then?
Re: The Music Story
I'm a student in the music department and, it's true. Our department is really badly resourced. But we shouldn't blame this on the staff - it's not fair. They ask for more money every year and the Uni always says no.
Well I cheated in the exams to get into uni so why would I stop now ;-)
Put the new issue on the web, dude. I really wanted to sent my boyfriend, who's studying at the Uni of Virginia, the article on how Uni of Glasgow is now (apparently) up there with Yale, Harvard, and Princeton. Camon! This uni is full of slackers and underfunded departments, how can it possibly be in the running?! I recognize that Glasgow has a good rep, but I also know, after being here for four years, that much of it is just talk. On the other hand, I'm applying to postgrad programs in the states, so this article might help me out. Thanks!
it was good to see Guardian focussing on a positive story for a change. it's really good to be the favourite scots uni for yanks
just thought i'd let you know the music department are fuming. apparently the head of dept is going to ask the principal to shut you down.
Shut down the paper? Good to see censorship is alive and well in Glasgow
The universtiy is Up there with Princeton Yale and Harvard in one very small criteria.
However, If you wish to see the full picture it would be wise to read The Times University review.
We are not even in the top fifty.
Also, on what grounds does the Head of music want to shut sown the newspaper?
I've heard that the head of dept has spoken to the Arts Dean who is lobbying the principal to get the paper shut down.
God knows why they're the only people who tell the truth although I agree with you - the Ivy League story panders to the university a little. Lord only knows that they've sent copies to loads of American high schools. Maybe that's why the issue went so quickly?
Grant
I still can't get over the ridiculous claim to 'Ivy' status that someone at GLasgow Guardian just decided to make.
On what grounds? That Yale and Harvard are expensive? How does this qualify Glasgow to be 'up there' with those big boys?
Really, please do some more in depth homework before making such plainly false claims.
It just makes you look bad.
